Jorge Acevedo, MD is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with advanced Fellowship Training in Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Acevedo is one of only a few surgeons in Florida performing total ankle replacement on the arthritic ankle and the Ossitron Shockwave Treatment for heel pain. His other areas of specialization also include sports medicine and lower extremity conditions.
Dr. Acevedo earned his Medical Degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed a Transitional Internship at Georgia Baptist Medical Center and a Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Acevedo performed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Acevedo has practiced orthopaedic surgery at The Center for Bone and Joint Surgery for more than 10 years. His Clinical Appointments include Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation in Miami, FL; Past Director of the Diabetic Foot Care Center at Wellington Regional Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL; Past Vice Chief of Surgery at Wellington Regional Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL; and Member of the Board of Directors at Palms Wellington Surgical Center in West Palm Beach, FL.
He has received several honors and awards, including the Roger H. Michael/Johnston & Johnson Outstanding Fellow Research Award, Nominee for the Florida Choice Awards of Excellence in Patient Care, AOFAS Research Grant, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America Resident/Fellow Research Award. He is a Member of the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society, Tulane University; Alpha Eta Mu Beta Biomed Engineering Honor Society, Tulane University; Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society, Tulane University; National Science Foundation Outstanding Minority Student Award; Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society, Tulane University; and Dean’s List Tulane University. Dr. Acevedo graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
Dr. Acevedo is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He serves as the Treasurer of the Ibero-American Medical Association. Dr. Acevedo is a Member of the AOFAS-YPS, IRB Committee, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Michael Hoke Society, Clinical Orthopaedic Society, Florida Orthopaedic Society, and Palm Beach Medical Society.
Dr. Acevedo’s numerous research projects are published in a variety of peer-reviewed medical publications. He is a sought after national presenter.
